I wouldn’t say that Blue Shock is a favorite, really. I will be doing something like that when a few other Dews from around the world get here. I wasn’t planning on specifically doing a, “how raspberry flavors are presented to the public in the US, Europe, and Southeastern Asia,” and yet that’s kinda what’s happened with these 3 reviews. This one’s interesting and it highlights how tastes differ around the world. But the combination of not having as huge a kick of flavor, the fewer bubbles, and the sweeter nature, this soda could easily be chugged in a matter of seconds. That could be because it’s not quite as carbonated, or it could be just how sodas are mixed in Malaysia. There’s also a lot less of an acidic punch to the soda. It’s more subtle and soft, rounded on the back-end of the sipping experience. That fruity, berry flavor is what most people would know as blue raspberry (even though it doesn’t taste much at all like raspberries). This, instead, mostly tastes very, very sweet, with some fruity, berry flavor as a chaser. Even Supernova had a bit more of a kick to it than this. First off, it’s not a big punch of overall flavor. Spark tasted like artificial raspberry + lemonade. Taking a sip, I get a flavor that’s much, much different than either of the previous raspberry sodas. Anyone in Malaysia may feel free to weigh in. I don’t know if that’s because it’s come all the way from the other side of the world or if the sodas in Malaysia are simply not as fizzy as sodas here. I should also note that this soda had waaaaaaay less carbonation than I’m used to with a Dew. But it doesn’t really smell like either Supernova or Spark (the other two raspberry Dews I’ve had recently). ![]() The soda gives off an artificial-raspberry scent to it. If it came out neon orange, it would have been more of a shock than if it was blue, though). The clear bottle already told us that it was going to be blue (as if the name wasn’t a giveaway, either. Anyway, I guess let’s see how Malaysia does their raspberry Dew as I get to the pour. Is that it? PepsiCo make raspberry Dew, but only in limited supply in the US, but regularly everywhere else? It seems so. This is the third Dew I’ve done with raspberry lately. I am once again traveling the world from the comfort of my own refrigerator as I head to Malaysia with a taste of Blue Shock. ![]() It’s time for another Mountain Dew Review.
